My Skincare Products

I thought it might be a good idea to show all the products I am using. I will say a little about each one and why I particularly like it. In the middle of the photo is the generic brand of Isotretinoin that I am taking.
It does look like an awful lot of stuff, but I do like using and trying lots of products . I am sure you could just use good old water and things would be just fine, though Boots might go out of business if I did.

Simple Foaming Face Wash
This lathers well and leaves my face feeling really clean and not too tight. I got this from a supermarket, it costs about £3.99.
Eucerin Replenishing Face Cream
I find this is quite a rich cream, it soothes my skin after washing but does leave it fairly shiny/greasy. It feels like it sits on the skin. This was bought in Boots for £9.99.
Optrex Dry Eyes
I have been using these drops quite a bit as they relieve the gritty, dry feeling in my eyes that can lead to headaches. They were bought in Boots for about £3.99.
Clarins UV Plus Protective Day Screen SPF40
I love this suncream. It is a tiny little bottle, only 30ml, but a little goes a long way. It is not greasy and it smells ok too. I bought this bottle online, it cost about £15.
Vaseline Intensive Care Derm Care Lotion
To be honest I bought this because it was a huge bottle for only £3.99, from Savers. It is really quite good, doesn’t take too long to absorb or leave you with greasy skin.
Dove Triple Moisturising Body Wash
Well the name really tells you why I bought it, and it does. I also happen to love the smell of Dove so it’s a win win situation! This was on special offer in Boots for £1.49.
Blistex Daily Lip Conditioner
This is a great lip balm as it doesn’t just slide off, as I find Vaseline does. I also like Carmex. This little pot was about £4.99 from Boots.
Product Update
Dermalogica Ultracalming face cleanser
This is my favourite face wash, It has now arrived so I will be using it in place of the Simple face wash. It is so gentle, no lather, I just smooth it on and then rinse with luke warm water then I pat my face dry with a clean towel. It leaves my skin feeling soft with no tightness. It is pricey at about £25 but worth every penny!
Dermalogica Barrier Repair
It is the first time I have used this moisturiser and I think it is great. It is not greasy, yet it smoothes flakiness. I will probably use this during the day, if I want to put make up on and use the heavier Eucerin at other times. This costs around £26.
Lacri-Lube Ocular Lubricant
That means dry eye ointment to you and me. I am trying this now as my eyes are feeling so dry and gritty and the Optrex just doesn’t help enough. It is a thicker solution so is supposed to stay in the eye longer. It’s not too nice putting it in…A bit like putting a blob of Vaseline in your eyes and it takes a few minutes to see clearly again, but if it helps I can put up with it.

Just wanted to say thanks for the blog! I’m 33 (M) and have had acne since highschool!
I seem to be able to control it, sort of, by cutting out dairy, and using face washes, creams etc, but it just never goes away and recently my eyelids have also been getting acne, and they don’t open properly and I look terrible!, (especially annoying at the moment when i go for job interviews looking like a zombie!!) It is so frustrating and I am sooo over it!
Just yesterday (quite by chance) I spoke to a friend who stated roaccutane 2 months ago, they are looking amazing now, so I was reading up on it too and just found your site.
I am going to call and book to see a dermatologist as soon as they open on Monday! I can’t believe I never realised that i might be able to actually get rid of acne altogether !!
Anyhow, just wanted to say your skins looking so good!! best of luck as you continue, and thanks for the blog. Hmm perhaps I could make a blog too, its a good idea.
Cheers,
Jezza

Hi
I too am on Isotretinoin and have been since late December, I finish my course in 2 weeks and am so pleased with the results i cannot believe how good it has worked i wasnt a bad case of acne but have had spots since my teens and have been in & out of doctors with different lotions & potions i was on DIanette and that worked great but then as soon as i stopped taaking this the spots came back on my face, chest & back it is awful having to deal with this i remeber last summer not wanting to go out i couldnt wear vests as i was so ashamed of my back it was just awful, and now i dont have 1 spot on my back or chest and have only just today got a spot on my chin fuirst time in a long time ! I have been on the internet looking for info as i wanted to book a holiday in june to the carribean thinking i would be ok as i will be off the medication by then but since the warm weatehr has arrived in England i burnt my arms withing 5 minutes of sitting in the sun so am now a little concerned as to how long after the treatemnt my skin will be sensetive, i found your website and just wanted to say dont give up it does work and all the dry eyes, dry nose and the horrid itching ect is well worth it!! My dermatologist upped my does to 60mg a day - 3 tablets a day so i could come of them quicker.
If you want to chat more or exchange tips ect i have enclsoed my email address.
It nice to chat with someone who knows what were going through am sure my family & friends are sick of my going on about my dry skin ect.

I was doing research on isotretinoin and just happened upon your blog. Thank you for having the patience to comment on your daily meds and the courage to post your pictures as well. Keep up your endurance and know the battle is not over yet.
